About Us

The Music Therapy Association of Nigeria (MUTHAN) stands at the forefront of advancing music therapy as a recognized and respected field nationwide. We bring together passionate professionals, educators, and advocates who believe in the profound impact of music on individual and community well-being.

Our Story

Founded with inspiration from pioneers such as Prof. Anthony Mereni, MUTAN has been instrumental in establishing music therapy’s place within healthcare, education, and community support systems in Nigeria. Since our official registration with CAC (Coporate Affiars Commission) in 2019, our organization has bridged local musical traditions and international best practices to create truly transformative experiences.

What Drives Us

We are motivated by the belief that music is a universal language for healing, growth, and connection. From nursing homes to classrooms, from hospitals to community centers, we strive to deliver culturally sensitive, scientifically informed music therapy to all who need it.

Our vision:
To make quality music therapy accessible to every Nigerian, regardless of age, location, or background.

Our mission:
To lead music therapy research, advocacy, education, and clinical practice, building a vibrant network of professionals and champions across Nigeria.
